# InsureGrades > InsureGrades is a directory of licensed insurance agents built from state public license records, where verified agents are checked against the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR) and rated by their clients. InsureGrades (https://www.insuregrades.com) is operated by Insure Grades LLC, a United States company. Consumers use it free to find, compare and rate insurance agents. Agents subscribe to claim their listing, be verified and receive quote requests. ## Definitions - Verified: the agent claimed the profile, holds an active subscription, and the license was confirmed against the NIPR Producer Database (active status, name match, lines of authority in every licensed state). The badge is withdrawn when the subscription ends or a verified license lapses. Unclaimed listings are never called Verified. - Unclaimed listing: a profile built from a state insurance department public license file (first source: Florida Department of Financial Services, imported July 2026). Shows name, license status, lines of authority, licensed states, business city; never shows contact details or license numbers. - Compliance score (0-100, shown on every claimed, verified profile on any plan): 50 points active NIPR-verified license, 30 no regulatory actions on the NIPR record, 15 no lapsed license, 5 complete profile. Continuing-education hours are not scored; an upcoming expiration never lowers it. - Rating: four 1-5 star scores (responsiveness, clarity of explanation, claims and service support, trust and transparency) from a signed-in consumer, one per agent, averaged into an overall rating, published immediately, shown anonymously. Agents cannot buy or remove ratings; they can flag one for review. - Ordering (every public list): NIPR-verified agents first, then claimed profiles still pending verification, then unclaimed listings; within each group a rating adjusted toward 4.0 until an agent has about five ratings (one five-star rating does not outrank forty at 4.8; the displayed average is the plain average); plan is only a tie-break among equally verified and rated agents (Elite, then Professional, then Starter). Paying never moves an agent above a better-rated or better-verified one, and never affects whether a profile is Verified. Name searches list exact name matches first; a city lists agents based there first. The owner gets a team compliance view (licenses, CE, credentials, appointments, Compliance Score, regulatory flags; never a member's private career data, ratings management or quote requests) and a public agency page. Members keep their own profile, licenses and ratings and can leave at any time. ## Site structure - /insurance-agents: hub of all states with listings - /insurance-agents/{state}: state directory (paginated); /insurance-agents/{state}/{city}: city directory; /insurance-agents/{state}/{specialty}: specialty directory (life-insurance, health-insurance, auto-insurance, home-insurance, business-commercial-insurance, property-casualty-insurance, disability-insurance, medicare-supplement-insurance, long-term-care-insurance, annuity-insurance, umbrella-insurance) - /p/{slug}: an agent's public profile (license table, ratings, compliance score when applicable) - /search: live search by name, state, city, specialty, rating, language - /get-matched: a consumer describes the coverage and location; up to three NIPR-verified agents are shortlisted and the consumer chooses who receives one quote request (never resold; each agent is told how many others were asked) - /compare: side-by-side comparison of up to three agents - /blog: insurance guides (licensing, continuing education, choosing an agent) - /for-agencies: agency accounts for agency and brokerage owners - /agencies/{slug}: an agency's public page listing its member agents, verified first, with a combined rating ## Reference pages - Methodology (sources, verification, re-check cadence, score weights, ratings, corrections): https://www.insuregrades.com/methodology - Data (open statistics: licensed agents by state, verified counts, lines of authority, specialties, rating averages, prospect dataset sizes; CC BY 4.0 with attribution): https://www.insuregrades.com/data - Press kit (boilerplate, key facts, logos, contact): https://www.insuregrades.com/press - How it works: https://www.insuregrades.com/how-it-works - FAQ: https://www.insuregrades.com/faq - About: https://www.insuregrades.com/about - Contact: https://www.insuregrades.com/contact (support@insuregrades.com) - Pricing: https://www.insuregrades.com/pricing - This file: https://www.insuregrades.com/llms.txt - Sitemap index: https://www.insuregrades.com/sitemap-index.xml (static, state, specialty and blog URLs in /sitemap.xml; agent profiles in /p/sitemap/{n}.xml) ## Limits - InsureGrades is not a consumer reporting agency; its data must not be used for employment, tenant, credit or insurance-eligibility screening. - InsureGrades does not sell insurance or give financial advice.
